Having some time off work this week to travel around England and Wales has been rather interesting! Ok, I managed to track down the bike I have been after for thirty years, but the window industry is never far away from my thoughts. I was sat having a cuppa in the OX7 part of Banbury and skimmed through the local rags as you do, and was amazed that none of the advertisers for windows etc were BFRC rated. Ok, this will not mean much to anyone thinking of replacing their windows - until next month... In October, all windows supplied will have to be official energy rated windows, not fakes. This is part of the Government drive for energy efficiency and climate change, and it makes sound financial sense. Our Conservatories...

When we build you a conservatory, no matter what design you go for, you can rest assured that it will stay firmly attached to your property. We do not skimp on basework and building work, so when the time comes to actually fit the conservatory, the basework is dry and ready to support the weight.

We have had nightmare telephone calls from other companies customers asking if we could rectify their conservatories after they detached themselves from the house. Usually the only course of action is to take it down and completely start again. This problem does not arise with our own conservatories!

New regulations for new windows...

From October this year, all new window installations will have to be carried out by BFRC and FENSA registered installers and all new windows will have to be officialy registered 'C' or 'A' rated windows.

Of course if you are in luck if you are currently having your windows installed by Prior Products, as we are already BFRC licensed and have been making energy rated windows for a while now!

Better for the environment and much better for your heating bills!

K glass varsus Planitherm total?

Our standard 'C' rated windows are fitted with argon filled 28mm Planitherm total double glazed units. These have excellent insulating properties and as the name implies the glass is crystal clear.

Worth bearing in mind when replacing some windows in a house - are the existing windows K glass or not? If the new 'C' rated windows are fitted in a room along side older K glass windows you will immediately notice the difference. K glass has a slight greenish tint and does not have the clarity of the new windows. It is therefore important that each room only has one kind of window in it. The cost savings of our 'C' and 'A' rated windows means that there is really no contest. Fit the best!
