Why uPVC doors continue to grow in popularity?

According to Business Wire, “The uPVC window and door market is growing at a faster pace with substantial growth rates over the last few years.” uPVC door products have been on the market for several decades, but it was in the 1980’s that uPVC overtook aluminium as the most popular material of choice for windows and doors.

So why has uPVC managed to retain its popularity for so long? uPVC offers the perfect balance between cost and practicality. For a relatively low cost (when compared to aluminium) you get a material which is robust (highly resistance to chemicals, water, corrosive environments, and weather), low maintenance and impact resistant. Aside from these practical benefits, it is also highly commercial as uPVC is available in a variety of colours and even in wood grain finishes.

For the more environmentally conscious consumer, it is recyclable and the unplasticized PVC does not have any additive material added to it during production, therefore it requires less energy input during production.

uPVC doors and windows are durable, (fire, wind and moisture resistant) and thermally and acoustically insulated – for the majority of homeowners this ticks every box!
