Hinged Secondary Glazing

This system can either be butt hinged, friction hinged or parallel friction hinged, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Generally, hinged secondary glazing lends itself to use in hard to treat areas such as bay windows and other specialist applications. It is ideal for large glass areas where quick and easy regular access is required. i.e. for maintenance, ventilation or cleaning.

Vertical Sliding Secondary Glazing

This system is ideal for providing thermal insulation and soundproofing for traditional wooden box sash windows, or any other windows that have horizontal bars. Panels slide up and down in the same way as vertical sliding sash windows and provide easy access to the existing window. When open they provide ventilation without interfering with curtains or blinds.

Horizontal Sliding Secondary Glazing

This system is extremely versatile, slides smoothly and is available with two to five panels. Horizontal sliders are perfect for sound and thermal insulation for casement windows, hinged windows, or any window that has vertical bars. Panels slide within the frame allowing easy access to the existing outer windows & providing ventilation without interfering with curtains or blinds.

Fixed Secondary Glazing

Our most simple secondary double-glazing product is typically used when the area for fixing into, is minimal. Once installed, the glazed panel cannot be removed.

Turn button releases are optional to enable removal for cleaning and maintenance if required. Available in several different styles as well as single or double-glazed aluminium profiles, there are a number of configurations to choose from.

Fixed Secondary Glazing Windows

This system is the most inexpensive and easy to fit the style of secondary glazing we offer. An effective method of reducing noise and heat loss, and considered to be the most easily reversible change. It has pre-drilled countersunk holes and is very popular in conservation areas, especially in leasehold properties where changing the existing windows may be uneconomical or an impossibility.

Fixed secondary glazing is part of our economic system and is the slimmest style of secondary glazing we offer, at just 20mm wide. The wool pile on the back of the frame helps create a good seal between the existing window, preventing draughts and blocking out sound.

Secondary Glazing FAQ's

  • What does secondary glazing cost?

In many cases, secondary glazing can be a more cost effective solution than traditional window replacement. Whilst the high-quality, aluminium units may not be far off the cost of a new primary window, secondary glazing is a significantly easier product to install, often reducing the overall project cost.

  • Does secondary glazing work?

  • Can secondary glazing save you money?

When you invest in superb secondary glazing, you’ll add more glass to your window, protecting it from cold air. That way, you can preserve your windows for longer, and improve the performance of your home.

  • Will secondary glazing reduce my energy bills?

Given secondary glazing’s ability to reduce drafts and cold spots within homes, it’s a incanredibly effective means of lowering energy bills. Prior to the energy price crisis, one Manchester homeowner saved a whopping 40% on her energy bills post-install.
