All our conservatory bases and porches are built according to building regulations and to the highest of standards. We can complete all building works, including electrical or plumbing services, that are required to complete the installation. This will all be backed up with the appropriate certificates issued on completion.
On completion of the building work we will leave the site clean and tidy.
Prior Products conservatories all under go a site survey once the customer has agreed with the sales representative that they would like to proceed with an order. Once the conservatory brickwork is up to full height, the surveyor will return for a second site survey measuring off the new brickwork to assure a bespoke fitting giving a accurate fit and achieving the best finish.
Prior Products can also carry out minor building alterations, including new brickwork or brickwork removal, lintel installations and plastering. We can also construct tiled or flat roofs to suit porches, bays or bows etc. This means that you, the customer, can have all the work carried out by one contractor.
1. A full site survey is arranged so to check for any obstacles that may need attention before any excavation work begins, plus also take measurements, check clearances and mark up the position of the conservatory. The surveyor will then sit you down and go through the details and specifications of the conservatory and explain what happens next and when its going to happen.
2. Next a builder’s skip will arrive the day before we start and then we will proceed with the dig out of the footings to a minimum depth of 600mm depending on ground conditions and the design of the conservatory. The ground level between the footings is dropped at least 300mm below the existing D.P.C level of the property.
3. Any drainage issues that come up during the course of digging the footings will be dealt with accordingly for example any footing that cross over a drain will have a concrete lintel put over the top to stop the drain being crushed and also steel mesh as an extra safety will go over the top as well. Man holes, inspection covers and rodding eye points that are in immediate area of the conservatory will be moved to an area that clear of the conservatory.
4. The next procedure is to drive iron rods into the ground and then pour concrete into the footings.
5. The poured concrete is then smoothed off forming a level surface.
6. The internal leaf of the cavity wall is built up to Damp Course Level of the property.
7. Hardcore is then laid to a approximately 100mm deep and then compacted down to form a level base.
8. Once level a screed of sharp sand is laid over the top and then compacted down to help prevent any puncturing of the damp proof membrane.
9. A heavy duty plastic sheeting (D.P.C. Membrane) is then laid over the top of the sharp sand and lapped onto the internal leaf of the external wall. This will prevent any moisture rising up and causing any damage to your floor.
10. Insulation is then placed on top of the plastic membrane to help retain any heat generated inside the conservatory.
11. Concrete is then poured on to the base with a float finish. This will bring the slab up to finished floor level.
12. The outer wall can now be built with the correct match of brick or stone to blend in with the house.
13. The internal wall is built off the concrete slab, brick, stone or block work (if being plastered) will be used to suit the customers needs.
14. Once the conservatory is fitted and with any conservatories over a certain size the polished concrete base may need screening or self-leveling which will be determined by the surveyor’s judgment.
