Depending on how experienced you are with double glazing , this may sound like an obvious question, however, it is a question which gets asked many times. Is there a difference between uPVC and PVCu?

What is the difference between uPVC and PVCu?

PVC stands for Poly Vinyl Chloride , which is a very lightweight and robust material, making it an extremely popular choice for windows, doors, and conservatories. The “u” simply stands for “un-plasticated”, which means that the plastic is not softened during the manufacturing process, ensuring that it keeps its strength.

With that in mind, you might have already figured out that uPVC and PVCu must be the same, as they both stand for “Un-plasticated Poly Vinyl Chloride”! Installers and manufacturers may use both interchangeably to refer to the same product.

What are the advantages of using uPVC?

Here at Prior Products , we offer a wide range of uPVC window styles, as well as uPVC entrance doors, french doors and patio doors.

Advantages of uPVC include:

  • Virtually maintenance-free profiles
  • Energy efficient
  • Wide range of profile colours
  • Wide range of hardware
  • Multi-point security
  • Great noise insulation to keep out outside noise

uPVC comes at a lower price point than our aluminium products , meaning that you can replace your doors and windows without breaking the bank!
